"What's Happening at Salem!"

Help the UMWomen Gather Layette Kits

3/30/2017

Picture
The UMW will be collecting items for Layette Kits for UMCOR. The kits will be assembled and then taken to the Annual Conference in June. All items are needed by Sunday, May 28.

Here is a PDF listing the items needed for each Layette Kit.  Donate any or all of the items listed for each kit.

There will be a container in the Choir Suite that you may put your items in. If you have any questions. contact Sara Ann Meadows at 770-786-8248 or Pier Barrow at 678-625-7686.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
  • All items must be new.
  • Do not wash any of the items, as they will then be considered used.
  • All emergency kits are carefully planned to make them usable in the greatest number of situations. Due to the fact that stgrict rules often govern product entry into international countries, it is important that kits contain only the requested items, nothing more!
  • Do not include any personal notes, money, or additional material in the kits. These things must be painstakingly removed and will delay the shipment.

Salem Seniors Spring Trip Postponed!

3/21/2017

The Salem Seniors were scheduled to make a day trip to the Biblical History Center in LaGrange, GA on Thursday, March 23, 2017. However, the center booked up to maximum capacity and we were not able to secure reservations. We anticipate rescheduling this outing to the Fall of 2017, when perhaps there will be less crowds (due to it not being Lent!).

At any rate, this is a good lesson that it is always helpful for each of us to sign up for events EARLY in the process, so that we'll help those preparing for the event!

Confirmation 2017

1/27/2017

Picture
Confirmation is the event in which a person who has already been baptized as an infant or child claims for him/herself their faith in Christ. Those who were not baptized earlier would be baptized (rather than confirmed). Confirmation Classes provide the setting for a young person to consider the tenets of the Christian faith and to decide are they ready to make a public profession of their faith — choosing to place their trust in, and to follow, Christ.

Confirmation Classes will begin January 29 and will be a part of the regular UMYouth session, 5-7 p.m. on Sunday evenings.

These classes will prepare the confirmands and will reinforce the discipleship of those who have already been confirmed.

The dates for the classes are 1/29, 2/5, 2/26, 3/5, 3/26 and 4/2.

All 6th – 12th graders are welcome.
